I travel to British Columbia almost every month. I know that they need to be up to date on their vaccinations and have proof. My MIL mentioned once about them not liking you bringing dog food across, but they haven't ever said anything to me.
We have crossed hundreds of times and only been asked for proof of vaccinations once. They sometimes ask me "Are the dogs coming back with you?" LOL of course they are... I'm not leaving them there!
