I am sorry to hear about your friends dog. If she bought the dog in California there are puppy lemon laws. Here are some articles. I was able to recoup a large portion of Buster's Vet bills but I did have to have a lawyer to call them to get them to realize I was serious. Good luck and best wishes for the puppy.
