I have been considering adding another one as well. I did have a problem years ago with two Shih Tzu's that did not get along so I have put off the decision but truly Gracie loves dogs and people so I think it will be alright. Since you know the breeder you have a better idea of what they produce and how well they are socialized.

Before I got married I had a small female Maltese. After being married my husband wanted a larger dog. While my Maltese put up with the larger dog they were not friends and did not play together. If you get a second dog I would get another Yorkie as it is just a better match.
Does your husband have a problem with small dogs? I know some males think they need a large dog as some sort of symbol. I think two small dogs don't quite equal one large dog so he could still get his larger dog if he wanted to care for it himself. I would be concerned about the personality of a larger dog. There are so many irresponsible breeders out there that produce some really inferior dogs that many have some real personality issues.
I really don't think the sex of the dog makes as much difference as the personality and that is something that is hard to gauge with a puppy.
Adding another one while your present dog is still fairly young is probably a better idea then waiting. Usually a younger dog is more accepting of changes in the household.
Unless you had problems training your present dog there should be no real issues in getting another.
