Penny is skin and bones. You can't tell by just looking at her because she of her hair but if I pick her up or pet her I can feel her ribs/hips/so forth. Even before/during her pregnancy she was boney/thin no matter how much I gave her to eat and now that shes nursing it seems like shes lost a couple more ounces. I leave food where only she can get to it (or my AmStaff would eat it) and she eats some but she just doesnt gain weight.
Currently I've been giving her 1 tablespoon of Avoderm wet, and free feeding her Diamond Naturals Small Breed Puppy.
Is there any higher fat content puppy foods I could feed? Or something else I can do to help her put on weight? I talked to someone about Satin balls but I wasnt sure if that was a good option for her due to her size. She's been dewormed and had a negative fecal so its not a parasite- My vet just keeps saying shell eat when/if shes hungry. Im just a little lost as to how I can help her. Before she was pregnant she reached 5.2 lbs (I think) and was still on the thin side, I havent weighed her since the last time she was at the vet but Id guess shes right at 5 lbs.
