I am hoping we can get him to stay every time the door is opened without the command. Any ideas on how to do that or am I dreaming? |
If you do it consistently, eventually they'll look for the "ok" command to proceed out the front door. No need to say "stay", but definitely enforce the "ok" "let's go" or whatever command. I can leave the front door wide open for hours on end and Kaji is not tempted. he knows the stay command well and after so much practice he knows to wait for the release. We have 3 years of diligent practice. Trust me it works! You just have to put the time in now to get the results you want later.
