Small long haired dogs are quite the thing these days so a lot of people have set up shop to take advantage of the situation. If they won't let you stay and watch then keep looking. Your dog is a family member and not "just a dog." If they have that attitude then they don't deserve your business. There will be plenty of other places to choose from.
