Default My Watch Dog

We live in a quiet neighborhood with a horse pasture in our backyard and a wooded area on one side of our house. We see a lot of deer and assorted wildlife walking thorugh our yard but Macy doesn't bark at anything except helicopters flying over (we have an army reserve base at our airport), the school bus and the mailman.

Around midnight Saturday night she started barking a fierce, loud bark and ran in the office. The office window looks out over the front yard so I looked out the window and didn't see anything strange and went back to bed. She stayed by the window doing her huffing noise for another 30 minutes and then came back to bed. When we got up Sunday morning we noticed someone had tried to steal a concrete statue that is part of our landscaping. The statue weighs over 150 pounds and they didn't get it too far. It was laying face down about 10 feet from where it normally stands. This all happened right outside the office window where Macy was barking the night before.

My husband and I laughed because the thief probably was scared off by the racket Macy was making and ran for his life thinking we had a huge watch dog in the house.

I can't believe she heard something in the middle of the night in the front of the house when she was sound asleep under the covers in a room in the back of the house.
