We have carpeted stairs for my fur babies but we keep the baby gate on them because its nice to have a place that is "people only"
unfortunately Remy (our GSP) and Sammy have teamed up and Remy can sometimes knock the fence down long enough for Sammy to run upstairs and collect all the people to play and pay attention... This happens most often when I am trying to take a shower or vacuum... Lol. The point of this is that if you get a baby gate be sure it fits well and cannot be knocked over or gets loose because my little partners in crime are so smart sometimes... And I'm sure your baby is too!
