There has been much agitation as at a recent Ottawa dog show a Leonberger Puppy died of Pavro, the Leonberger exhibitors had set up near to some Aussie Shepherds who had attended the Aussie Nationals in California where pavro broke out; some of those same Canadian dogs were at the Ottawa show.
AS you are aware Pavro is a pretty deadly disease. An Aussie dog that has been the subject of much debate entered into the show this wkend, has tested clear of pavro. And the owner has still voluntarily pulled his dog from competition this wkend to allay fears.
Pavro can last for years!!!
Here is what even as an guest/visitor you can do. First take hand sanitizer with you. TAke a change of shoes and trousers socks in your car, in plastic bag. Take a plastic bag to cover your car seat.
Do not offer to pet dogs, caution will be paramount at the show.
Once finished at the show, go out to your car, change shoes, sit on your carseat on plastic bag. Then once home, take plastic bag immediately put in outside trash. Change your pants in your garage and put in a plastic bag. Change your socks, tey go into bag.
The clothes you wore to the show go immediately into washing machine, add bleach to wash water.
Wash your hands and arms with mild bleach. Then go greet your dogs.
If you have puppies, quite frankly miss the show.
I will reconsider if I enter Razzle for CGN this wkend. I go to show Friday, and Sat and will make my decision.
