Xena knows how to sit, shake, high five, lay down, go to her bed, go to her couch, and I am trying to teach her to 'leave it' with treats. She is doing very well with that. She loves training. The second she sees me reach for the treat bag she gets excited and sits in front of me, even waves her little paw at me.
My Pamapoo Trixie knows the same tricks as Xena except for 'leave it'. She does know how to stay as well. I started training Xena when she was around 6 weeks old and I believe Trixie was 8 weeks. Now they're 5 and 6 months old. Trixie catches on faster than Xena. It took Xena three sessions to understand sit, it was her first lessons. And it took me like two weeks to get her to comprehend lay down, when her front went down her little bottom went up. I wasn't sure she would ever get it >.< |
