Did you get Gabby from Vikki? I'm sure she's lovely if you did. I think you and Gabby will be happier with her in a short haircut. Find a groomer with great references and go with his/her recommendations. If Gabby is an experienced show dog she'll settle down just fine for the groomer without you there. Long hair is very time consuming to groom. Good luck.
