What else I think you have to bear in mind.....quite often, these dogs are rescues FOR A REASON. Sometimes they don't like men/children/something else, which creates a whole new set of problems.

I agree with you, I know there are good rescues dogs out there, but it is a matter of finding one- You have to do way more research on that dog make sure that dog has no hidden issues. I know you can find a good rescue dog for a family, but for me I would much rather get a puppy for my kids. What child doesn't want a puppy? I think it is a great experience for children to grow up with the puppy, and also to see that puppy grow as well.
