So issues with potty training too, but the tail was the confusing part. I think you guys are right. she gets scared very easily and thinks I'm going to do something mean when I call her lol, the poor thing freezes, and flops to her side.  So just a confidence boost? I take it lots of praise? |
Oh how sad, I think you're right she probably has been scared a lot. First of all, try not to baby her, this actually can make them more scared, it's like you are telling her, "You are right to be afraid." When you correct her, don't be emotional, just use words like "uh uh" which can just mean, "no reward is coming" rather than you are a bad dog. Many dog experts believe that walking is good for a dogs well being and it gives them a sense of having a job. I think some of the happiest dogs are working dogs, so walking can help your dog become more confident. If he isn't use to walking, start with a short walk and give a treat when you get home. Also, teaching basic obediance and even trick training can build their confidence, you dog really wants to please you and knowing how to please you will build his confidence.
