The kind of symptoms you describe sound more like stress that results in some stomach upset.

What does he ride in? Some dogs do better in a carrier where they feel safe and can't see the movement of the car. Many dogs love riding in a car and want to see everything but not all dogs can take that much stimulation al at once. You might try taking short trips in the car with him in a enclosed carrier and slowly working up to a longer ride. He may eventually get over his distress and enjoy the trip, especially if you take him some where fun and not just to the vet or groomer.
