I hate hearing news like this and hate hearing that they're pitbulls. But what is that guy thinking?? He admitted they're aggressive towards animals and he STILL allowed them to leave his yard?!
I'm sorry, I'm all about pit awareness/rights, but I don't care WHAT breed it is - if your dog kills another animal, that's it.
