What should I expect from a Groomer? Gabby (my 7 lb. Yorkie) came into my life in July. She is 7 years old. She used to be a show dog. She instantly bonded to me. She won’t let me out of her sight. She has long hair. It is getting a little to much for me. If I don’t comb her twice a day, she gets knots. I called a local groomer and asked if I could stand about 10 feet away so Gabby could see me. I knew if she could see me, then she would be fine for the grooming. The groomer said”no”. Some stuff about insurance wouldn’t allow me there. I think it’s crap. She then told me she thought it would be best if I left her off and then picked her up. Gabby’s hair is about 9 inches long. I wanted the groomer to cut about 5 inches off and leave about 4 inches. She said to do that would take about 4 hours and she couldn’t do it. If I wanted Gabby’s hair cut it would have to be with clippers and the clippers left about an inch. I’ve never had any experience with a groomer before. Would anyone expect you to just leave a 2 or 3 year old child and come back and pick them up. Or would they not cut a childs hair the way you wanted it. Does this all sound reasonable to you. Please help me to understand these things. |
