What a wonderful hubby you are! But puppies are not like a new equipment or clothes purchase. If your wife doesn't like the puppy what then?
Most breeders unless they know you well,haven't interviewed you personally would be very reluctant to let a pup leave home over Xmas time.
I love the idea of a gifting card, puppy things, and then when you are both ready to go select out the pup
