They have been given permission by the land owner to drill on that property...they have signed a contract that can last 2-4 years!. I have property in Colorado and we are negotiating with about 4 different companies that are wanting to drill. There is someplace you can go on line to find out what companies are drilling in specific areas....if you dont get any information from the land owner or the rig hands. The county should have the information on that rig, as permits have to be obtained, etc. The bright side is........if they hit oil or gas on that spot, they will probably be coming to YOU for permission to drill on YOUR property!
