And it's not just Southerners and Texans either. Yankees are just as guilty. I hear so many supposedly educated people pronounce it that way and it just drives me up a tree. Of all the other irritations mentioned in the posts on this thread this one is my absolute biggest pet peeve. Look how it's spelled, people. There's only one U in the word nuclear. Repeat after me. It's noo-clee-ur.
