I think most of us would agree with your post, but not always do all circumstances allow for someone you trust to watch the dogs while you are away from home. Every Sept we have a business trip to a trade show in Vegas. Usually MIL watches Uni and who ever we happen to be fostering. This year MIL had to pick up and go to France during the same time we were going to be gone to see her dying brother for the last time before he passed away. There is no one else I trust to watch my dogs. Well there is one person, but she's not allowed to even have her dog at her apt, so having another or two isn't gonna fly. So in our case we didn't have a choice. And I didn't want to leave them at a pet hotel that we've never been to or checked out before. Everything was so last minute. Good thing the hotel we always stay at is pet friendly.
However, I would not advise to sneak a dog into a hotel that is not pet friendly. Bc if something were to happen, the hotel isn't going to do anything, and possibly charge you even more for breaking the rules.
