Did you see both parents? You must have had to make your pick when the puppies were very young. Most of the time someone will buy the smallest first. I can't tell you the number of people I have seen here on YT that were promised a 4 to 5 pound dog and ended up with 8 to 15 pound dog. If you don't know a lot about the ancestry of the dog it is very hard to speculate about the mature size.


Pups have growth spurts and then they sloow down. Sometimes, people looking for a "specific" type of puppy, will be told whatever they want to hear from people that have no clue what genetics are behind the two dogs they bred.....and NOT just for the AKC 3 generation pedigree! You have to go back 12-18 generations in order to get a good idea on what lines are the "construction blocks" of babies out of that dog!
