I originally trained my first Yorkshire terrier to go potty on potty pads. He did really well with the potty pads for the while that I had him, but at a certain point I started confusing him with going potty outdoors. After I made that mistake he started going everywhere.

Potty pads teach dogs that it is okay to potty in the house. So eventually when I started switching around his potty to outside he got really confused.

The best choice for me was to start taking his potty pads outside and teach him to only potty outside. Eventually, he only started going outside.

I know that isn't really great advice, but that is what I did. =)
