If you had a surgeon that is good with this surgery, your baby should heal with no noticable external visual evidence of having had the surgery. I have been thru this surgery with two pups, both were bilateral FHO proceedures, one was from trauma and one was LCP disease. In both cases, the hips were done simultaneously, and both of these babies have healed completely, neither even have a limp. When you look at the babies from behind, the hips are more narrow, but one of the pups is I think close to 2 years post op and the other baby was done just last June. Both owners of these babies say these pups do not appear to have even undergone any such surgery! So, you have nothing to fret about...your baby should heal without a hitch, IF YOU FOLLOW THE POST OP THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS....EXERCISE IS EXCELLENT, BUT NOT OVER EXERTION AND JUMPING AND RUNNING AT BREAK-NECK SPEED. You have to do exercises that are designed to strengthen that hip....just dont allow the pup to over do it! Also, weight management is important!
