I wish they would have sent her home with pain meds...in the old days of vet medicine, vets didnt even consider pain in a dog...they never gave pain medication....then it slowly changed. These babies hurt after surgery, and they need pain meds to keep them on an even keel... This is why I advocate keeping an IV in your baby until you pick the pup up from the vet to go home...then you know the baby is well hydrated and that will carry them through until 24-36 hours later when they feel like a sip or two, a bit or two of nourishment. Mine always did well with chicken broth....I used chicken broth from canned soup....it has enough salt in it it makes them just thirsty enough to drink more water....not something you want to continue to fee for a week or so, but a couple of days of that broth has never hurt any of mine. And they also always wanted to drink what momma was drinking.....I make a cup of warm sweetened decaf tea, and put it in a tea cup...pretend ike that is my cup of tea, and they are all over that cup, wanting to share mommas tea....you can also syringe pedialyte into her mouth for a couple of days until she is drinking more.... |
