As a breeder, I can say I would not be the least bit offended if someone asked I not dock their baby's tail. The problem is, most tails are docked by day 3....and there is only about 15% of people looking for Yorkies that do NOT want their tails docked. Therefore, if anyone wants a baby to keep its tail, they will have to pay for that baby up front, as the chance I can turn around and sell that baby to someone else is diminished greatly....and I can hear it now, they would be wanting the baby discounted because it never had its tail "properly docked". That would become a "problem" for them, and they would be "doing me a favor purchasing that baby". I always dock my tails a little longer, just in case that 3 day old developes into a show prospect.....people hav even made comment negative on that!!! I think those tails are adorable, and I will love it if the weight ever shifts to having tails remain undocked! So ask your breeder to leave your babys tail undocked, but be prepared to pay up front for the baby. |
