Please ask your vet to check your baby's eyes to see if the naso-lacrimal ducts are open. They drain the excess tears from the eye into the nose just as in humans. If they are not open, when you have the dog spayed or neutered or have dentals done, the vet can try to irrigate them and open them. I do it as a routine. It is common for them not to be open. The gunk should be cleaned every day. If it is allowed to harden, it can pull the flesh off and form a sore. If that happens, use an ointment that is for the eye. I use a little eyebrow brush/comb-those freebies that you get in cosmetic promos. |
