If he went in his crate are you sure he wasn't in there too long? We chose to leave the crate open when we were asleep (and the crate is inside a pen to keep him safe) the pen was lined with paper. So, if he had to go he could go on the paper (and keeps him paper trained). He quickly got to the point where he will avoid going in the pen but we've protected him from ever having to go in his crate. His toy monkey gets dragged through some dirty situations but he's never been used as a toilet yet. He will sometimes sit on him for no obvious reason.
On the other hand you might just be unlucky. Also, even when he gets that it pleases you to go in a particular way then he'll probably still break the rules occasionally. Its as if sometimes he can't be bothered to comply. I think its a bit like sit - most of the time he will do it but occasionally he'll ignore the command. |
