I have 3 guinea pigs, and at first Joel was really into them, but because they share a room he eventualy got used to them.
First, dont ever leave them unattended, obviously
Second, The fastest thing that worked for both of them to get used to eachother was food, and carrots was something the guinea pigs and Joel liked, it also helped the pigs because they were scared of Joel and now they aren't.
Everyday I would feed them carrots together with a play pen between them, and then they both related being by eachother with getting some carrots.
So now Joel can be in the room byhimself and doesn't pay any attention to them, he might go up to them when they start squeeking loudly,lol
Now I just have to say "Do you want to feed the guinea pigs" and he gets excited to eat veggies with them(He thinks he's part guinea pig
)
So know they both like eachother and even touch noses through the cage
Not to say he wouldn't chase them if they were on the floor! lol But they wouldn't be out when he's in the room
