I love my camera, but honestly, with the improvements made today, if you don't need a camera that's really good in the elements such as rain, snow, freezing weather, there are a lot of more modern cameras that have resolution as good or better than my camera, and they are far cheaper than my camera. Technology has advanced so much that a $600 camera today surpasses a $2000 camera from a few years ago in terms of resolution and the ability to capture low light photos with low noise.

Point and shoots can be prefocused to avoid shutter lag, but if you really want to capture motion shots, you need a D-SLR or one of the smaller format new cameras. I prefer Nikon over Canon for many reasons, but Canons are excellent cameras, too. I don't believe that Canon has the quality control that Nikon has, and that's an important factor. There are many others. I started off in photography with Canon and still have two SLRs from them. I switched over to Nikon about 28 years ago, and since I have a number of lenses from my other cameras that work on the D-SLRs, I stayed with Nikon. With further research, I knew I made the right choice -- for me.

I use an external flash that helps prevent red/green eye flash.
Golly, Lisa, no wonder all of your photos are so great. Aside from perfect subject matter, you know your cameras and what they can and can't do. Could I ask what photo software do you use to process them into your computer or iPad?
