When i got him the breeder told me he will weigh 4-5 lbs fully grown but on Monday when i went to the Vet for his shots she told me my baby weigh 7.2 lbs. I don't know if it is normal for them to grow big like that or was i lied to by the breeder. Thank you guys for all your help for the past 2 month.
I doubt the breeder intentionally lied to you....maybe she has been using one of those "charts" that are nothing but a guestimation of what the baby will weigh. These babies have growth spurts those charts dont take into account! Yes, it is "normal", (not what we aim for but NOT abnormal) for a Yorkie to weigh 7 or even more pounds....depending on his pedigree and what is in the lines behind him. As breeders, we TRY to produce pups that follow the breed standard, but there are "outliers" on both ends occasionally...that is, some times we get a tiny baby, some times we get a BIG baby, a "throwback" to days long ago when Yorkies were large! Tell hubby to cool his jets, Sano is a precious Yorkie boy, who has all the characteristics and attitudes and traits of our beloved Yorkies and he will be just as "good" as hubbys first little Yorkie.
