It could work either way - if Harry could see us, he'd cry to get to us.....if he couldn't, then he'd scrabble around and bark, trying to get out
It might be worth trying the opposite of what you're currently doing (or using just a huge crate, if he's happier and more secure 'inside'). It's all a bit trial and error at first....
