I agree it varies from dog to dog but I believe its fairly common for yorkies and small breed dogs to have problems with their teeth. I suggest getting your dog neutered and having the baby teeth pulled no later than at a year old. Troy was 3 when he had his first dental and he still had 5 or so retained puppy teeth. This caused his mouth to be terrible. Horrible breath and the vet suggested that because I waited so long that he had bacteria and I put him at risk for some of teeth abcessing or loosing more. Luckily he only lost one adult tooth in addition to the retained puppy teeth but from someone who had to learn the hard way get it taken care of sooner than later.
