I am a member of the Papvilion forum and there was a dog who had to have his tonsils actually removed just about a week or two ago. I've read that it is very rare for dogs to have tonsillitis.

I've read that some people believe that there could be a link between genetically modified corn (corn is sometimes an ingredient in dog food) and tonsillitis. You could google it and see if you find anything.
