Yes, you must must know who is delivering the anesthesia and HOW they are doing it!!! No matter what pre op blood work is done, if a vet is not up to date and monitoring things properly, bad things can happen. My vet has one employee whose job is to sit and monitor the animals' vital signs. That person is not allowed to leave that room for ANY reason unless there is a substitute. Period!!
With modern anesthesia techniques, death should not occur.
Yes, pre op blood work is important....and I do it on all of my pups prior to any anesthetic procedure...BUT please, please always know about protocol and discuss with your vet!
