I recently read an article that said some research shows that certain types of collars may cause throat and mouth cancers.

We adopted our Airedale when her owner died and she came with a choke chain collar. We tried replacing it with a traditional collar, but she wanted her chain. She lived a very long life, so no worries about the mass.
Surgery on the torso is more difficult for a dog than mouth surgery, but I'm sure Peanut will do very well with a couple days rest and some pain meds. I know it is hard to see our little ones when they aren't 100%.
