I am so sorry to hear that Peanut has a mass. I hope it's benign & he'll be ok, but it will need to be tested to be sure.
Momo's floating rib cage is on the left side (not under) & is the last rib bone, just like the pic you linked. It kinda sticks out on the side if he's lying down & I can feel it when I pick him up. When I touch it, it doesn't bother him at all.
