Our family is looking for a yorkie (or yorkie mix) and we'd prefer to rescue if we can. The problem is that as soon a dog is placed on PetFinder they're snapped up very quickly or I don't get called/emailed back.

Can you guys suggest a few tips for finding a dog in our area? I'm in the NYC tri state area.

One of my children is allergic so we have to have hypoallergenic.

I've done all the research on training, pet insurance, finding a vet and dog parks in the area. The only thing we're missing is a dog.

Are there Yorkie Rescues around?
