A vascular surgeon is basically one who treats blood circulatory problems and work to prevent clots in vital places. They only operate in a serious situation but may do minimally invasive procedures, etc. Why don't you just see one for a second opinion or ask your surgeon if there is anything else you should be doing in order to prevent calcification, if you are worried about it. I'd think the body would normally resorb the thing unless it is very big and if it is, your surgeon would likely have you doing more to help it dissolve. Sure sounds like you lost a lot of blood having to have 2 transfusions! I'll bet that was very scary. Did the surgeon say why he thinks you bled like that?
