Default Play dates

Hello everyone.
I know many of you have more than one type of dog so am throwing this out to you. I have a neighbor who recently got a Nova Scotia Duck Toller. She is currently around 11 weeks old and already weighs a little more than Wallee. Since I have been trying very hard to socialize Wallee I had her over to let them play together in the yard. They romped around for quite a bit, however I could see that after a while, Wallee was getting a little fed up with her mouthing his neck. He growled at her a little and she backed off. When I had him at puppy class the trainer said as long as his tail was still wagging he was ok and having a good time.It looked like she was really biting on him when she was mouthing his neck, however he didn't really say much until he got tired. (even in puppy class he was always at the bottom with whoever he played with and the trainer said that was because of his gentle nature.)
My question is this. Should we intervene if it looks like she is getting too rough with him even though she is so young or will he take care of it himself. Also, should I worry that he could get injured playing with her since she is already around 2 lbs heavier than he is?
