My sister who sewed for years got her good iron at Clotilde, where they used to carry German import fine irons and such. She paid a fortune for it but that iron of hers is the best. She got a wonderful pair of heavy-duty steel scissors & regular steel scissors from them, too, the kind that sharpen like razors! She had her little portable sewing iron and her big, regular iron and both were top of the line, still work today, though her sewing is limited to just some handsewing today as her eyes are so bad, legally blind. But she still handsews several times a week! Makes her own gowns, pillow slips, etc. Makes the loveliest, tiny stitches and does great work.
