People who don't even like having dogs in their homes at all usually don't mind having a lovely little Yorkie over to visit! Almost 100% of the time, only dogs who are allowed to misbehave and do as they please over time turn into biters so I wouldn't worry one whit. Yorkies are not predisposed to biting any more than any dog. But some small dogs are too-often allowed to get away with "murder" in how they behave and can escalate into a biter once they see themselves as the leader of their family pack, thus guardian/protector of their owner. I've personally experienced and been told of more than a few greeting situations with small dogs that will nip at feet or hands and such, whereas people with larger dogs usually can't begin to let their Rottie do that or people would report them to Animal Control for having a "dangerous animal". However, when a 5 lb. Pom tries it, people just grimace or laugh uncomfortably but aren't scared! And small dogs do "attack" and bite, but you just don't see it reported and news headlines about it as they usually do very little or no damage.
I've had 3 Yorkies in my lifetime for 9, 12 1/2 and now 5 years and none of them has been a biter. My sister had one who never bit. Get your Yorkie and enjoy. |
Thanks

I have a sweet yorkie now, but when we move I want another. I also have a lab we adopted from the shelter and I think she's taught the little man that the kids will be protected all the time. I've never had a problem just want to be sure one wont arise. I love fur babies but my real kids come first
