Its not too late to make a complaint, especially if you volunteer at animal control.
Similar thing happened to us years ago...driving to the store a dog (chi) was in the street, it ran to the sidewalk I made Derik turn around as we drove past, because no one was out there.
I got out and the little dog ran into a yard (no front fense) a lady came out of the house like instantly to see why I was in her yard (I had past a big bay window walking to the dog) I started to say getting that...and she cut me of with OMG!....apparently she had just said bye to some friends and her chi had excaped! She was VERY thankful especially after I said it had been in the street. The dog in the mean time ran right to her and she had picked it up it was licking and loving her. Derik made jokes about me trying to steal her dog, if she hadn't been so genuinely shocked and thankful I might have commented on her being more careful...
I'm not quick on my feet in awkward situations either, but even an anonymous animal welfare complaint, or checking missing yorkie posts, is worth the effort. |
