Just remember, practice makes perfect! When I first got my treadle, I made two ironing board covers just to practice sewing straight seams, as I hadn't sewn for a decade or more. Same goes for trying new techniques, I practice a few times to get the kinks worked out. It helps to get very familiar with your seam ripper too!

One fun thing to do is to try out all your fancy stitches on a piece of scrap material, and play with the stitch length and width adjustments on each one. That will help you later when you want a special stitch for a project...
Seam ripper. . . You are funny but it is true (get one with a longer handle)lol

Also get a long steel ruler and tailors chalk. Draw lines and sew so straight lines. Gives you some practice. If you can sew straight lines you can sew anything. It is a lot of fun. Started on my Grands Singer now have a Husqvarna. Great machine
