Peanut's tarter builds up pretty quickly. He gets dental cleanings about once every 2 years- He always has the pre- blood work before going under.
It does depend on how quickly tarter builds up on your yorkies teeth, however I don't know about "yearly" Seems a little much to me.
If I think there is a lot of build up, I will run Peanut into the Vet and the Vet will look at his teeth and let me know if we should or shouldn't do a dental.
