It will be hard to get a harness that does not go in front. A no pull harness is described above in my post that does not hurt the neck area.
As for insurance the two best seem to be. Healthy Paws and the one I have, Trupanion. The latter I have found excellent but some say it is more expensive. The Healthy Paws my friend had and it seems very good and less cost.
