I got another response from Kissable Toothpaste when I asked how much tea tree oil is in a tube of toothpaste:

There is 1/2 of 1% of tee tree oil in the final formula. The tube is 2 oz so it has .01oz of tea tree oil. A drop is considered 1/480 of an oz. of water. However, the toothpaste is MUCH thicker than water so a drop would be much larger. If we assume that the toothpaste is 3x as thick as water (which is grossly underestimated, as 3x thicker than water is more of a shampoo consistency), then a tube of toothpaste equates to 320 drops. So in the entire tube of toothpaste, there would be 3.2 drops. Again, this is not an accurate equation – more of a guesstimate. The amount of tea tree oil is actually much less than this because toothpaste is much thicker than water. Again, the toothpaste has been tested extensively and has been proven safe for dogs and cats. So your dog would have to consume more than two tubes of toothpaste at one time to come even close to the 7 drops.

Another thing to think about is the Fluoride that we use in our own toothpaste. This ingredient is actually toxic to humans in large quantities much like tea tree oil would be to dogs. In small does fluoride is beneficial to our teeth and so is tea tree oil to dogs.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
