8 oz Just Born with Colostrum
4 oz Pedialyte
1 raw egg yolk
1 cup whole live culture yougart
3 tbsp. Dr.Millers Nutra Drops
Put in a blender and mix well. Feed 1cc/oz body weight.
For complete feedings with no help from momma, start with newborns feedings @ every 2 hours, around the clock (breeders know this!). After 36-48 hours, if they are gaining well, can go to every 3 hours...after 48 hours, can go to every 4 hours if their weight is back on track....I usually stay at every 4 hours for about 1-2 weeks....then every 6 hours for another week and they are then ready to be started on the puppy gruel, made with this formula instead of the goats milk....
For supplementing momma, depending on how much you need to supplement, I will usually start with feedings every four hours, during the day, and after I feed return to momma for HER to potty and clean up the baby, so that bonding thing continues.
I also give Bene-Bac 1/4-1/2g at birth, then day 3, 5, 7, 9 and at weaning when gruel starts.
Like I said, this formula delivers around 16 calories/cc, and it really turns these babies around quickly. I tube feed this as well as bottle feed it...have not lost a "failure to thrive" baby since I started using this.
