[My baby Milo]

My daughter took Milo out today and a big black bird flew over really low and Milo started to chase it. It turned and flew the other way. She got him and got in the house because she thought it might be after him. How can We tell the difference between a hawk and a buzzard? I don't know if I have ever saw a hawk before.
