We have 3 yorkies and keep 2 pads down. Our three go outside most of the time but like you, they are for those "I can't wait to go" moments! I lightly spray them with "Out" Stain and Odor remover from Walmart before putting them down and Wash them every 2-3 days. Never seem to have any issues with odor (but again, they don't always use them for every potty time).
