Meeting a new puppy Hi everyone.
Here for advice again since I find those of you who are seasoned with yorkies are so helpful.
Wallee is approx 6.5 months old now. I have him at a puppy obedience class to try to get him socialized. (he has been bit twice already).
My neighbor down the street just brought home a beautiful Nova Scotia Duck Troller who is 8 weeks old. This little baby is almost the same size as Wallee already (he is almost 9lbs) however she is so young and innocent. They met today for the first time (both on leash) and of course she wanted to climb on him and play. He growled and snapped at her. I immediately yanked him back as he has a harness on.
Should I be worried about him hurting her? He didn't bite her and she didn't cry like he did when he was bit, but I don't want him biting. At his obedience class the other day, they have a time where they let the puppies off leash with other puppies the same size, a little white fluff ball was also trying to play and he growled. The trainer said he is just not happy being climbed on and was warning the other puppy that is not acceptable to him.
I guess my big question is, will he be ok to let off leash in a backyard to play with the Retriever puppy? Could it be the leash made him more snappy? He is only young himself, however has most of his teeth now and like I said, cause he was bit as a young one, I don't want him to do that to another puppy.
I really want him to become friends with this puppy while it is young so that he can be able to play with her as a bigger dog and be comfortable. |
